CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING IN BEAR VALLEY
When: Friday evening, March 26th - Sunday March 28th  
Where:Bear Valley Cross Country Ski Resort in Bear Valley, CA
Cost:  $125/person (includes 2 nights lodging, 6 meals, all equipment (adaptive equipment such as sleds, sit skis, and walker skis), trail passes, instruction and assistance from trained guides)
Description: Our winter wonderland awaits in Bear Valley!  The trip will include cross-country skiing with adaptive equipment, a basic ski lesson from trained guides and volunteers, sledding & playing in the snow meadows, exploring the giant sequoia forests, natural history talks, indoor & outdoor games, laughter, & fun in a supportive group environment!   Lodging is a modern cabin near Arnold, California (~3 hours from Bay Area) and our activities will take us to Bear Valley Cross Country Ski Resort and Big Trees State Park, a giant sequoia forest.  Companions and family members welcome to accompany participants and be completely included in the fun!  You must provide your own transportation to the cabin in Arnold.  Space is very limited so call early to reserve a spot.

ELEPHANT  SEAL  EXCURSIONS
AT AÑO NUEVO STATE PARK

When: Sat & Sun - Jan. 16th & 24th and Feb. 6th & 21st  

Where: Año Nuevo State Park (approx. 25 minutes north of Santa Cruz on Hwy 1, meet at visitor center parking lot)

Cost:   $7 per person (plus a parking fee of $10/vehicle) 
Description: Año Nuevo State Reserve is the site of the largest mainland breeding colony in the world for the northern elephant seal.  Elephant seals, sea lions, and other marine mammals come ashore to rest, mate, and give birth in the sand dunes and on the beaches.  It is a unique and unforgettable natural spectacle that hundreds of thousands of people come to witness each year. Join us for a fully-accessible stroll led by informative park docents.  Afterwards, you can check out the Visitor Center which features natural history exhibits.  Rain or shine—the seals love the rain and are more active in it, so bring a poncho and brave the weather for this amazing opportunity!  This popular activity fills up very quickly.  Call early to reserve your spot! 

CERAMIC PAINTING AT PETROGLYPH

When: Thursday, January 28th

Cost:  $12 (and up, depending on art piece chosen)
Description: Meet new friends in a fun atmosphere while expressing your individual creativity.  Choose from a variety of ceramic pieces including plates, bowls, and statuettes, and paint your vision on a self created souvenir. Petroglyph will provide supplies and support, glazing by their trained staff, and kiln firing.

BOWLING BY THE BOARDWALK
When: Tuesdays, Feb. 9th, Mar. 9th & Apr. 6th

Description: What better way to spend a wintery afternoon?  Come out of the cold, and join us for a fun filled early evening at the lanes!  The bowling alley has recently purchased new ramps and adaptive equipment to make this sport even more easy, fun, and rewarding for people of all abilities.  Share some laughs and make new friends while practicing your technique at a great spot near the ocean.   Great for all ages.

VALENTINE'S DAY DANCE PARTY
When: Friday, February 12th

Description: Join us for an evening of fun and entertainment.  Chat with old friends and meet some new ones!  Live rock and blues music will get you moving!  Maybe Cupid will even show up to get you with his arrow.  Snacks will be served.

MONTEREY BAY AQUARIUM
& DINNER AT ARCHIE'S DINER

When: Saturday, February 27th

Cost:  $16 for the Aquarium (includes one companion)
plus dinner (avg. meal $5-10)
Description: Join us for a day at one of the largest and most respected aquariums in the world!  The Aquarium holds 35,000 plants and animals representing 550 species.  We will see the biggest permanent collection of jellyfish in the U.S., look through the world's largest window to get a diver's eye view of a kelp forest and its inhabitants, and walk through a tunnel where we can let a wave crash over us without getting wet!  We will also visit penguins, otters, sharks, manta rays, and fish, and have the chance to touch sea stars and stingrays in tanks.
After our adventure, there will be the option to walk one block to a 40’s-style family diner to have dinner together.

INDOOR ROCK CLIMBING
When: Friday, March 5th   
Where: Pacific Edge Climbing Gym  (104 Bronson St, SC)

Description: Try out the fun and challenging sport of rock climbing in a supportive environment, in one of the Central Coast’s most renowned climbing gyms, with experienced belayers to guide you!  We will have our own private room with 1,500 square feet of climbing terrain.

GAME DAY AT THE BOARDWALK
When: Saturday, March 20th
Where: Neptune’s Kingdom & Arcade, Santa Cruz Boardwalk

Description: With more than 300 of the most popular video and pinball games, laser tag, billiards, ping pong, and special attractions just steps from the beach and Boardwalk rides, this is a bonanza of fun for all ages!  A variety of activities are available, from the latest in high-tech adventures and interactive games, to air hockey, the Gold Rush Shooting Gallery, an ice cream stand, and a pirate-themed two-story miniature golf course.  You can also win tickets from games such as Skee Ball and trade them in for prizes.

6TH ANNUAL DAY IN THE SKY

Description: Mark your calendar now for one of our most exciting events of the year!  Disabled and terminally ill children (ages 8-17) will receive plane rides over the spectacular coastline, while a simultaneous large festival and accessible activities expo entertains everyone on the ground.  To register to participate or volunteer, check dayinthesky.org after March 15 or contact us to join our email list to be notified when registration opens.  Space for participants is limited and local kids (Central Coast) will be given priority.

OUR SHARED GARDEN

Description: Shared Adventures’ garden has moved and is expanding!  Everyone is welcome to join whether you are new to gardening or come with a plethora of experience.  We now have 7 raised garden beds (200+ sq ft) at the Trescony Park Community Gardens!  We’ll spend afternoons in the fresh air sowing seeds, watering, weeding, pruning, harvesting and enjoying.  Come watch the greenery grow and reap the harvest through the year!  This ongoing project is for all ages to enjoy. 

Our Lead Gardener, Allison O’Sullivan, will be there to teach and demonstrate different gardening techniques.  Allison has over 10 years of experience with organic farms, and has studied agriculture throughout California and as far away as Ghana, West Africa.  Allison is certified in Permaculture Design from the Permaculture Institute and has been teaching outdoor education for 7 years. 

Wear comfortable clothes that you won’t mind getting dirty, and make sure to bring a sun hat.

YOUNG ARTISTS STUDIO

  1. The Branciforte Small Schools Campus is located on the corner of Branciforte Ave and Water St.  Important: YAS is located on the backside of campus.
  2. Continue on Water St. and turn right onto Benito (one block past Branciforte if you are heading away from downtown). 
  3. YAS is in Palazzo Art Studio which is in the portables.  There are some ceramic faces outside the portable.

Description: Young Artists' Studio is an inclusive after-school art program for young people with and without special needs, ages 12-18. Students work with many creative mediums including printmaking, painting, ceramics, and photography. They also benefit from the expertise of guest artists, learn about master artists, take field trips to view local art, and participate in art shows.  New students always welcome.

FROZEN YOGURT SKETCHING CIRCLE
